You found a China Supplier online or on an exhibition, etc. The supplier looks all right till now. You even want to place a sample order or trail order to start. You may Google some articles which giving similar suggestions. Let’s see: (I may give my own opinion following.)
1. Searching the company + scam or some other keywords. (Goodway to pre-verify by yourself. )
2. Calling their telephone number. Distinguish if their contact number a mobile phone or landline. (Only the lowest fraud will only supply a mobile phone number but many frauds can supply landline. It’s not difficult.)
3. Checking business license (Practical way but you need to know Chinese and how to use various departments of Chinese Government websites. Usually No English language service on Government websites. )
4. Asking for customer reference or bank reference. (Goodway. But if the customer is not famous company or bank reference inChinese.(fake seal not a big deal) It still needs to be verified true or fake.)
5. Getting a sample A, for checking product quality---(you may get a good sample but receive bad quality bulk product, this is the common scam trick.) B, for knowing their bank information or checking if they can accept Paypal. (usually they can accept Paypal for sample charges but untraceable wire service transfers for products orders)
6. Factory visit or pretend This is the most unpractical and naive suggestion. Since you can’t cost a lot to fly to China everytime when you know nothing or have no business with them yet. Also you can’t check every supplier by this way, right? If you pretend to say you will visit their company or factor, they will always say welcome before you really appear. The scams are not fools!
7. Making good use of databases of China Supreme Court. ( Not practical! You need to know Chinese! How do you contact China Supreme Court? )
8. Background check (Good and practical way. You verify by yourself and got nothing useful information. But you really want to cooperate with this supplier. To know them better is necessary!)
9. Asking a friend or partner to visit their company or factory. (I have to say it seems like a good way but not practical. It same with yourself visiting their company. I know there are some scams. They may take you to a cooperation relationship factory which put the trading company’s name on when you visit andthen put it off when you leave. You don’t know the people and Chinese. You just see what they want you to see.)
